The news that the G-8 finance ministers have agreed to cancel $40 billion of debt owed to international agencies by the world’s poorest nations is a sign of hope.
The deal will cancel the debt burden for the world’s 18 poorest countries, most of them in Africa. Some of these countries include: Mozambique, Rwanda, Ghana, Uganda, Honduras, Mali, Niger, Tanzania, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, and Nicaragua.
