AMERICA MAGAZINE AND THE FUTURE OF CATHOLIC PUBLISHING
Last month Jesuit Fr. Thomas Reese resigned as editor of America magazine at the request of his religious order. Reports indicate the Jesuits asked Fr. Reese to resign after years of pressure for his removal from the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
America magazine is considered a leading monthly publication of Catholic thought and opinion. Sources say the Jesuits found the debate with the Vatican over Fr. Reese remaining as editor "unwinnable."
