I returned from Fort Benning, Georgia, to the school where I teach feeling clean on the inside, and my colleagues noticed something different in my face. I am at peace inside, feeling more free in my structured work environment that often wears me down. The experience of this vigil always succeeds in doing this for me. Each of the three acts of the drama play themselves out –the funeral procession in which we say "No!" to violence, the prayerful moment at the gates when we are healed, and the celebratory "Yes!" to the world we imagine in the end. ...
