In his new book In Praise of Slowness, journalist Carl Honoré writes about the "slow approach" to learning taken by the Institute of Child Study Laboratory School in Toronto.

     "Its two hundred pupils, aged from four to twelve, are taught how to learn, how to understand, how to pursue knowledge for its own sake, free from the mainstream obsession with tests, marks and schedules. When they do sit for standard exams, though, their scores are usually very high," says HonorĂ©....
