The wind cut right through us as we snow-mobiled across the frozen harbour. Then it doubled its intensity as we rounded the point of land and sped over Northern ice at least four feet thick. When we’d come five kilometers, we stopped. I tried to jump off the snowmobile, but I was too stiff with cold, so I kind of slid off.
