Perhaps it’s the time of year. But I’ve been thinking a lot about friendships lately. Good friendships. Lost friendships. Even friendships filled with ambiguity and bizarre contradictions.
In his new book The Philosophy of Friendship, Mark Vernon does an admirable job tracing the attitudes toward friendship since the days of Plato and Aristotle. It makes for interesting and even surprising reading.
