CHILD POVERTY: REVITALIZING THE VISION

In his recent book Upside Down: A Primer for the Looking-Glass World author Eduardo Galeano writes that 12 million children under the age of 5 die every year from diarrhea, anemia, and other illnesses caused by hunger. He cites a 1998 UNICEF report which catalogues the same sort of statistics. The report then suggests the struggle against child hunger and death “become the world’s highest priority.”
