ARE WE A CHURCH OF THE POOR?

Recently I visited TirolĂ©, Haiti, where our group met a mother whose nine-month-old son nearly died of an infection. There were no antibiotics in the village and the nearest hospital was hours away. Besides, like most of Haiti’s people, the family had no money to pay bus fare to get the child there. The baby was saved when a tour guide operator brought him over the border to a clinic in the Dominican Republic. "Two days later and I could have done nothing for him," the attending nurse said.
