Last week my wife and I noticed a movie billed simply as Thérèse playing in a small cinema ten minutes drive from St. John’s. Hungry for something different, and not knowing anything about the movie in advance, we took a chance and drove out to see it. In doing so we stumbled upon something of a phenomenon in modern cinema –a very specialized movie promoting a religious point of view that had somehow wrangled a limited release into general audience theatres.
