THE JOURNEY CONTINUES: FAITH, HOPE, AND COURAGE

by Ruth Morris with Ruth Bradley-St-Cyr
If you chain me to this sickbed for the last days I have yet to live,
They would be too short to thank You for the days that I have lived.
If these pages be the last that I ever write
May they be a hymn to Your goodness!
Frederick Ozanam, founder of St. Vincent de Paul Society
Ozanam was not just founder of St. Vincent de Paul and a saint in his commitment to God’s beloved poor. He was also a brilliant theologian, whose writings did much to keep Catholicism alive in his time. He was only forty when he entered his final illness, with a young family to support, and in the midst of major writings he needed to finish. If anyone had reason to call God on a bad deal, Ozanam did. Yet those words of praise were among the last he ever wrote, and he never stopped singing God’s praises.
