HOMELESSNESS IS A NATIONAL DISASTER - AND SOMETHING MUST BE DONE

This past March a sombre crowd of 30 gathered to lay wreaths and flowers, as the latest seven names of those who have died on the streets of Toronto were added to the Homeless Memorial. While the names of the dead now total 130 since 1987, homeless activists know that this list represents just a fraction of the people who have lived on the streets of Toronto, and died as a direct result of homelessness. This public memorial, maintained by the Church of the Holy Trinity, is a means of recognizing and remembering those people who are too often forgotten and overlooked in the bustling megacity.
