An elaborate dance in strict formation is underway in an ornate early 1800s ballroom. Our focus is on a particular couple: A sullen gentleman and a twinkling-eyed, but disdainful young woman. The interweaving movements of the dance bring them within earshot of each other, only for brief snatches of conversation.
