At 8:15 a.m. on August 6, 2005, 55,000 people stood in the Hiroshima peace memorial Park for a moment of silence to remember the atomic devastation that had occurred precisely 60 years before. A bell tolled. The mood was sombre. A minute later, hundreds of doves were released. They swooped over the crowd. Our eyes lifted to the blue sky.
