TAX CREDIT FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS STILL HOT ISSUE

The controversial Ontario budget item that allows parents a tax deduction of a percentage of their children’s private school fees continued to dominate activities at Queen’s Park for weeks after the April announcement. It was a move that surprised even those who had worked decades for this relief, and has sent opposition parties and critics into a frenzy of speculation as to the government’s motives, as well as apprehension about what effect this may have on the already shaky public school system.
